POWDER METAL TOOLING
POWDER METAL TOOLING: WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU
Sterling Sintered Technologies excels in powder metal tooling, offering high precision, durability, and innovative solutions for diverse industry needs. In powder metal compaction, quality tooling is essential to efficiently manufacture quality powder metal parts delivered on time at the most reasonable prices.
Sterling Sintered designs 100% of all new tools in-house. Our ISO 9001:2015-certified Tool Room has Journeyman Toolmakers with a combined experience of over 100 years. With compaction happening anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 psi and with cycle rates yielding 1,000 to 2,000 pieces per hour, our level of skill and experience is what it takes to get it done right.
Making excellent PM tooling starts with proper tool configuration and material selection for the many functions that the tooling performs. We’ve been designing tools for compaction and compacting parts since 1955, and that experience has taught us what works well–and what doesn’t. You can count on us to deliver tools with excellent durability.
Achieving the fit-up and finishes required to handle the pressures and frictional forces involved is equally essential. The near-zero clearances and extremely fine micro-finishes we routinely achieve are needed to maximize production quality and efficiency. Sterling Sintered is fully equipped with CNC wire and electrode EDM, mills, lathes, jig borers, surface, and ID/OD grinders, allowing our toolmakers to get the job done right. Our tool sets manufacture everything from tiny parts to larger, complex, multi-cavity shapes.
Sterling Sintered maintains and repairs all the tooling we utilize. A documented history is preserved for each tool that ensures timely maintenance and allows us to keep spare components on-hand to prevent production interruptions.
