LAWN & GARDEN
LAWN & GARDEN
Powdered metal parts can be found in a wide range of different equipment, from the demanding applications of the aerospace industry to the hand tools and garden tools that you have in your garage. If you have a lawn or a garden that you regularly maintain, then you have probably used equipment containing powdered metal components. PM components are highly cost effective, requiring little to no machining that would extend lead times and introduce unnecessary stresses to the metal, which is excellent for complex parts that have to endure large amounts of force.
This customer came to us with an open-ended application. They needed to connect a linear actuating arm to a rotating shaft with a D-flat. Additionally, the component needed the ability to live through life-cycle testing under moderate to heavy loads.
After several sessions of online collaborations between our engineers and our customers’, we developed a design that solid modeling and geometric element analysis indicated would meet the customer’s criteria. Once materials were selected, Sterling Sintered created prototype parts for functional testing and provided a product that proved to be successful in both testing and the final application.
HIGH PERFORMANCE AND STRINGENT QUALITY
Sterling Sintered is known for producing complex, quality powder metal components for specialized applications in many different industries. Our presses and technology can achieve net or near-net shapes, reducing costly and time-consuming machining operations, and we can meet even the most demanding tolerances.
We have over twenty-four compacting presses ranging from 4 tons to 110 tons, and many of them have multiple upper and lower motions for parts with multi-level shapes. Our facility also houses equipment for many different secondary services for a finishing touch. Our goal is to make sure you get a powdered metal part that meets or exceeds your expectations.
