SMALL METAL PARTS MANUFACTURING
At Sterling Sintered, we specialize in the fabrication of small powder metal parts that are cost-effective and highly precise. Our capabilities lend themselves well to the lock hardware industry. We supply our partners in this market with precision-engineered components for enhanced security and functionality.
This customer came to us with two stampings, two cold headed pins, and a powder metal component for us to quote. What’s more, this part had to be able to live through an application of high-impact torque. The customers’ test involved a three-foot black iron pipe and a 16-pound sledgehammer.
By the time we were done with the early design involvement, those five components became this one complex powder metal part that could be made by us far more efficiently and required no sub-assembly like it previously had. And, thanks to the materials available in powder metal today, the finished part exceeded the sledgehammer impact test, and has continued to do so since our customer first integrated it into their product.
TESTED FOR QUALITY
With every part we make, our team performs strength tests on the parts as we manufacture them. These steps and inspection points are part of the Process Control Plans that we create for each and every part. Once the customer agrees on a quote for their part, we create a PM part-specific Process Control Plan that guides every step of the manufacturing process, start to finish, to assure conforming output. This includes strength tests that we perform, as well as any quality control standards that our customers require. Sterling Sintered stands out from the rest because of this careful and tailored attention to quality, allowing us to customize each Process Control Plan to suit the unique needs of each project.
